Reasoning
This has got “homecoming job” written all over it, but that does not mean Mosqueda is just turning up for a photo and a payday. The man is 27-1, so he has clearly done plenty right. But there are levels in this business, and Akhmadaliev has been mixing where the air gets thin. Former unified champion, sharp southpaw, heavy hands, quick feet, and now he is back in Tashkent with a crowd behind him, expecting a statement. That can either lift a fighter or make him reckless. With MJ, I think it sharpens him.
Â
Akhmadaliev is the more educated fighter. He does not just throw shots; he places them. He changes the angle, shifts half a step, touches the body, then brings the left hand over the top when a man starts dropping his elbows. Mosqueda looks like a solid, honest operator, but this is not the sort of night where being game is enough.
Â
The nuts and bolts are in the feet. Akhmadaliev’s southpaw positioning should give Mosqueda trouble early. MJ likes to get that lead foot outside, nick the angle, and punch while the other fella is still trying to reset. That is where the damage comes. Mosqueda’s best chance is to make it scruffy, stay close, lean on him, and stop Akhmadaliev from having that clean punching lane. But if he backs up in straight lines, he is in trouble.
Â
I expect Mosqueda to survive the first few rounds on toughness and caution, but once Akhmadaliev starts doubling the right hook and digging that left hand downstairs, the tank will start leaking. The home crowd will want a finish, and MJ will know this is not a night for coasting.
